FAQS
What is the difference between SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF Gel and the original Phloretin CF serum? +

The actives are identical — both combine 2% phloretin, 10% pure vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) and 0.5% ferulic acid. The difference is the texture. The Gel is a lightweight serum-in-a-gel with a fresh, non-greasy finish, while the original Phloretin CF is a more traditional serum. Many people with combination or oily skin, or anyone who simply prefers a gel, choose this version.

Is SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF Gel good for oily and combination skin? +

Yes. Its comforting, lightweight gel texture was designed with normal, combination and oily skin in mind, as well as anyone who prefers a gel over an oil-free serum. It absorbs quickly and layers well under sunscreen and makeup.

Should I use SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF Gel in the morning or at night? +

This is a daytime formula. Apply it each morning after cleansing and toning, before your moisturiser and sunscreen, so its antioxidants can help defend your skin against environmental stressors throughout the day.

How many drops of Phloretin CF Gel should I use? +

Dispense around 4 to 5 drops and press gently over a clean, dry face, neck and chest. You can also smooth any excess over the back of the hands.

Can I use Phloretin CF Gel with retinol or other active ingredients? +

Yes. Vitamin C antioxidants are typically used in the morning, while ingredients such as retinol are usually applied in the evening, so they sit well in the same routine at different times of day. If you are layering several actives, introduce them gradually and listen to your skin.

Does Phloretin CF Gel replace sunscreen? +

No. While it helps defend against everyday environmental stressors, it is not a sunscreen and does not replace one. Antioxidants and a broad-spectrum SPF work best together, so always finish your morning routine with sunscreen.

Why has my Phloretin CF Gel changed colour? +

It is completely normal for vitamin C formulas to deepen in colour as they are exposed to air and light over time, and the formula remains effective. To keep it at its best, store it away from heat and light and use it within around three months of opening.

How long does a bottle of Phloretin CF Gel last once opened? +

Used once daily at 4 to 5 drops, a 30ml bottle typically lasts around two to three months. Once opened, SkinCeuticals recommends using it within about three months for the best results.

Is SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF Gel safe to use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding? +

Vitamin C antioxidant formulas like this are widely considered suitable during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but everyone's circumstances are different. We always recommend checking with your GP, midwife or a qualified skincare professional before starting any new product while pregnant or breastfeeding.
