FAQS
Is iS Clinical Extra Strength Active Peel Brightening System good for dark spots and uneven skin tone? +

That is what it was designed for. In iS Clinical's eight-week study of 32 subjects, more than 70% showed a statistically significant reduction in skin melanin concentration from baseline, and 87% of users reported improvement in unwanted dark spots at four weeks. Step 2 adds succinic acid and snowflake bulb specifically to brighten the skin's appearance.

What is in the box and how do I use it? +

Each box contains 15 Extra Strength sets, each a pair of 2.9ml towelettes:

  • Step 1 Peel: Advanced Exfoliation - apply to clean, dry skin and leave for up to three minutes without rinsing
  • Step 2 Soothe: Hydrate + Protect - apply over the same area and leave on; it neutralises Step 1 and carries the exosomes, Extremozymes and copper tripeptide-1

Use every third night or every three to four days, in the evening, with SPF the next morning.

How is it different from the standard Active Peel System? +

iS Clinical bills the Extra Strength system as 3x the brightening and exfoliating power. Step 1 uses a more potent botanical acid blend; Step 2 adds exosomes, succinic acid, snowflake bulb and a barrier complex that the standard Step 2 does not carry. It is used less often - every third night rather than every other day - and only sold through authorised professionals.

How often should I use it? +

iS Clinical recommends every third night, or every three to four days, depending on your skin type and your practitioner's guidance. Start at the lower frequency and build up only if your skin is comfortable.

Why is it only available through a professional? +

iS Clinical restricts the Extra Strength system to authorised professional partners rather than selling it on its own website, so that a practitioner can advise on whether it suits your skin and how often to use it. Adore Your Skin is the online arm of BH Medical Aesthetics, a nurse-led clinic.

Will my skin flake? +

iS Clinical notes that some users may notice mild flaking as the product resurfaces and renews the skin. It is temporary; the brand suggests Cream Cleanser and SHEALD Recovery Balm for comfort, and daily SPF is essential.

What did the clinical study show? +

Over eight weeks with 32 subjects, who also used Cleansing Complex and Eclipse SPF 50+ throughout, more than 70% showed a statistically significant reduction in skin melanin concentration from baseline. iS Clinical also reports that at two weeks 96% saw improvements in smoothness and texture and 100% in oily skin or large pores, and at four weeks 87% saw improvement in unwanted dark spots and 90% in fine lines and wrinkles.

Can I use it with retinol or vitamin C? +

Keep retinol and other exfoliating acids off peel nights and use them on the nights in between. A vitamin C serum such as Pro-Heal Serum Advance+ in the morning is a good partner, followed by SPF.

Can I use iS Clinical Extra Strength Active Peel Brightening System during pregnancy or while breastfeeding? +

iS Clinical UK states that all of its products are non-systemic and can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. We still suggest checking with your midwife or GP before adding anything new to your routine, particularly as this formula contains salicylic acid and other exfoliating acids, which many midwives prefer you to run past them first. Because this is a strong at-home peel, many clinicians would simply suggest waiting until after this time.
