FAQS
Is Medik8 Sleep Glycolic a good at-home glycolic peel for beginners? +

Yes - Medik8 describes it as an entry-level at-home peel for anyone nervous about a first peel, because the 10% glycolic acid is time-released overnight rather than hitting the skin at once. In the brand's 4-week user trial 97% agreed it smoothed their skin surface and 95% agreed their tone looked brighter. Patch test, use it once to see how your skin responds, then build to two or three nights a week.

What is the difference between Sleep Glycolic and Press & Glow? +

Press & Glow is an everyday 5.5% PHA exfoliating toner for bright, glowing skin that fits into every routine. Sleep Glycolic is a more intense 10% glycolic acid overnight peel for advanced signs of ageing or stubborn texture and congestion, designed for a couple of nights a week - and ideal for prepping skin before an event. Medik8 says you do not need Press & Glow on the nights you use Sleep Glycolic.

Can I use Medik8 Sleep Glycolic with Crystal Retinal? +

Yes - Medik8 actively recommends the pairing, saying glycolic acid and retinal enhance each other's smoothing, brightening and decongesting benefits. Apply Sleep Glycolic straight after cleansing, then Crystal Retinal, then moisturiser. If your skin is new to both, settle into one before adding the other.

Can I use Sleep Glycolic with Press & Glow or Press & Clear? +

Not on the same night. Medik8 does not recommend layering exfoliating acids, so simply swap your everyday acid toner out on Sleep Glycolic nights: Press & Glow in the morning, Sleep Glycolic that evening, Press & Glow again the next morning. Wash-off acid cleansers such as Surface Radiance Cleanse are fine alongside it.

How often should I use Sleep Glycolic? +

Apply it once and note your skin's response, then use it 2-3 nights a week. It is not designed for nightly use - the everyday exfoliation job belongs to Press & Glow.

Can I use Sleep Glycolic in the morning? +

No. Medik8 advises against daytime use because glycolic acid can make skin more sensitive to the sun. Use it in the evening after cleansing and always wear sunscreen the next morning.

Will Sleep Glycolic make my skin red or peel? +

It is designed not to. The crystal-encapsulated glycolic acid is released gradually overnight so the barrier stays comfortable, and Medik8 built it specifically to avoid the redness and peeling associated with traditional peels. Slight tingling on application is normal; if you get more than that, drop back to once a week and build up.

Does Sleep Glycolic replace my serums or night cream? +

No - it is a leave-on peel step, not a moisturiser. Apply it second (after cleansing), then layer your usual serums and night moisturiser on top. A pea-sized amount covers the face, neck and décolletage, and Medik8 counts around 60 uses per 30ml tube.

Can I use Medik8 Sleep Glycolic during pregnancy or while breastfeeding? +

Sleep Glycolic contains 10% glycolic acid, an AHA that midwives are commonly asked about. Medik8 does not publish formal pregnancy or breastfeeding guidance for this product: as a cosmetics company it says it cannot advise on medical conditions and asks customers to discuss the ingredient list with their GP or midwife before use. Please check with your midwife or GP first.
