FAQS
Is Medik8 Ultimate Recovery Bio-Cellulose Mask good for skin after microneedling? +

Yes - Medik8 describes it as the ideal follow-up to microneedling or microdermabrasion, and it is used by skincare professionals across the globe for exactly that. The bio-cellulose sheet cools and calms while zinc, hyaluronic acid and rockweed algae soothe, hydrate and plump. Follow your own practitioner's advice on when to start after a procedure.

What is bio-cellulose, and why is it better than a cotton sheet mask? +

Bio-cellulose is a natural fibre produced by fermenting coconut water. Its fibres are far finer than cotton, so the sheet holds much more serum, moulds to every contour of the face without slipping and keeps the skin bathed in the formula for the full fifteen minutes instead of letting it dry out. It is also home-compostable.

How often should I use Ultimate Recovery Bio-Cellulose Mask? +

Medik8 suggests once a week as a deeply hydrating step, or whenever skin needs a boost - after a procedure, before an event, or when skin feels tight and dehydrated. Each box contains six single-use masks.

How long do I leave the mask on, and do I rinse afterwards? +

Up to 15 minutes. Then lift it away and massage the remaining serum into the skin - there is no need to rinse. Go straight on with your serums and moisturiser.

Can I use Medik8 Ultimate Recovery Bio-Cellulose Mask with Crystal Retinal or exfoliating acids? +

Yes. Medik8's evening layering is cleanse, mask, Crystal Retinal, then moisturiser, and in the morning cleanse, mask, C-Tetra Advanced, then sunscreen. On skin that is still recovering from a procedure, leave vitamin A and acids out until it has settled and use the mask on its own.

What is the difference between the Bio-Cellulose Mask and Ultimate Recovery cream? +

Medik8's answer: the mask is a deeply hydrating mineral sheet mask for skin in need of an intense hydration boost, while Ultimate Recovery is a rich, restorative cream designed to comfort compromised, post-procedure skin day after day. Use the mask weekly and the cream whenever skin needs moisture locked in; on very dry skin, apply the cream straight after the mask.

Is the mask recyclable or biodegradable? +

Partly. Medik8 confirms the sheet itself is bio-cellulose from fermented coconut water and can go in a home-compost bin where available. The gauze that surrounds the sheet is polypropylene plastic and is not recyclable, and the foil sachet goes in general waste.

Is Ultimate Recovery Bio-Cellulose Mask suitable for oily or blemish-prone skin? +

Yes. The serum is water-light with no oils, and the zinc PCA supports and balances the appearance of oilier skin while it soothes. Medik8 lists the formula as free from artificial fragrance, synthetic colours, parabens and alcohol, and gentle enough for the most sensitive skin.

Can I use Medik8 Ultimate Recovery Bio-Cellulose Mask during pregnancy or while breastfeeding? +

The mask contains no vitamin A and no exfoliating acids - its serum is hyaluronic acid, zinc PCA and botanical extracts. Medik8 publishes no formal pregnancy or breastfeeding guidance for this product: as a cosmetics company it says it cannot advise on medical conditions. Please check the ingredient list with your midwife or GP before use.
