FAQS
Is iS Clinical Extreme Protect SPF 30 a mineral sunscreen? +

It is a hybrid. iS Clinical combines microfine zinc oxide (a mineral filter) with octinoxate, an organic filter, which is what allows the crème to feel so light and hydrating. If you want mineral-only filters, Eclipse SPF 50+ and Extreme Protect SPF 40 are the brand's all-physical options.

Can I use iS Clinical Extreme Protect SPF 30 instead of my moisturiser? +

For many skin types, yes. It is formulated as a hydrating crème with aloe, olive leaf and vitamin E, so normal and combination skin can apply it directly over a serum. Very dry skin may still want a moisturiser underneath.

What is the difference between Extreme Protect SPF 30 and Extreme Protect SPF 40? +

SPF 30 is a hybrid mineral-plus-organic crème, untinted, hydrating and not labelled water-resistant. SPF 40 is all-mineral, water-resistant and available in Translucent, Beige and Bronze. Both carry Extremozyme technology; pick SPF 30 for comfort on dry or sensitive skin and SPF 40 for sport, swimming or a tint.

Is Extreme Protect SPF 30 water-resistant? +

iS Clinical does not label this one water-resistant; its directions say to use a water-resistant sunscreen if swimming or sweating. For pool, sea or sport days choose Eclipse SPF 50+ or Extreme Protect SPF 40 instead.

What are Extremozymes? +

Extremozymes are iS Clinical's proprietary blend of enzymes, derived from organisms that thrive in extreme conditions, clinically shown to help defend the skin against the visible effects of environmental stressors such as dryness from arid climates, temperature extremes and pollution.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin? +

Yes - sensitive skin is on iS Clinical's own list for this product, alongside all skin types, dehydrated skin and daily protection. Olive leaf is included specifically to comfort sensitive and compromised skin. Patch test first if you are very reactive.

Does it leave a white cast or feel greasy? +

No. The low level of microfine zinc oxide and the organic filter mean it blends in without the pale tone some mineral sunscreens leave, and iS Clinical describes it as providing lightweight hydration for smoother, softer-feeling skin.

Is SPF 30 enough for daily use in the UK? +

SPF 30 is widely regarded by UK skin professionals as the sensible minimum for day-to-day wear, applied generously and reapplied every 2 hours when outdoors. For long days in strong sun, holidays or swimming, step up to Eclipse SPF 50+.

Can I use iS Clinical Extreme Protect SPF 30 during pregnancy or while breastfeeding? +

Daily sunscreen is generally considered suitable while pregnant or breastfeeding, and is encouraged because skin can be more prone to dark patches at this time. Extreme Protect SPF 30 contains an organic filter (octinoxate) as well as zinc oxide; if you would rather keep to mineral-only filters, choose Eclipse SPF 50+ or Extreme Protect SPF 40, and check with your midwife or GP if you have any concerns.
