FAQS
Is this the same as the Jan Marini Hyla3D HA Activating Serum? +

Yes – it is the same product under a simplified name. Two changes happened together: Jan Marini began trading as Marini SkinSolutions, and the product went from Hyla3D HA Activating Serum to Hyla3D Face Serum. The patented five-technology Hyla3D complex is unchanged.

The brand has not published a statement about reformulating alongside the rename. Its current ingredient list is dated February 2024 and appears in full under Other Ingredients if you want to compare against a bottle you already own.

How is the serum different from the Hyla3D Face Mask and Face Cream? +

Same technology, three formats. The serum is the daily leave-on step, applied morning and evening under your moisturiser. The cream is a lightweight moisturiser carrying the same complex. The mask is the concentrated weekly treatment.

You do not need all three. The most common approach is the serum daily with the mask once or twice a week. If you already have a moisturiser you like, the serum is the one to add.

Why does it use five different forms of hyaluronic acid? +

Because molecular size determines what hyaluronic acid can do. Traditional HA is a large molecule that holds water at the surface for immediate plumping but stays there. Cross-linked HA forms a network that acts as a moisture reservoir for longer-lasting hydration.

Ultra-low molecular weight HA is fragmented to work beyond the surface, liposomal HA is encapsulated for sustained release, and the HA peptide supports the skin's own supply. One form gives you one kind of hydration. Five gives you immediate and long-lasting results together.

Why do I need to shake it before use? +

The formula separates slightly between applications, which is normal for a gel serum carrying this many different technologies. A quick shake redistributes everything so each application delivers the same balance. The brand lists it as the first step in the directions, so it is worth doing every time.

Where does it go in my routine? +

After cleansing and after any vitamin C or exfoliating step, then follow with your moisturiser and SPF in the morning. Within the Skin Care Management System, the brand positions it after Bioclear Face Lotion or Cream, followed by a hydrator. The principle is simple: thinner textures before thicker ones.

Can hyaluronic acid make my skin drier? +

It can if you use it wrongly, and this is worth understanding. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant – it draws water in and holds it. In very dry air with nothing sealed over the top, it can end up drawing moisture from the skin instead of into it. The fix is straightforward: always follow it with a moisturiser. Applied to slightly damp skin and sealed with a cream, it does exactly what it should.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin? +

It is one of the better options. There are no acids, no retinoids and no fragrance, and hyaluronic acid itself is about as unprovocative as skincare ingredients get. It does contain soybean oil and lecithin, so it is worth noting if you have a soy sensitivity, and there is a small amount of alcohol low in the ingredient list. If your skin is highly reactive, patch test on the inner forearm for 24 hours first.

How long before I see results? +

Hydration is immediate – skin feels different from the first application. The changes in bounce, volume and the appearance of fine lines build more gradually; the brand's own before-and-after images are taken at one month and two months. Give it a full two months of twice-daily use, applied to the neck as well as the face, before deciding what it is doing for you.

Can I use this while pregnant or breastfeeding? +

It contains no acids, retinoids or fragrance, which are the usual concerns, so it is among the lower-concern options during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and hyaluronic acid serums are often what people switch to at this time. As with any product, we would recommend checking with your midwife, GP or prescribing clinician before starting or continuing to use it.
