FAQS
What does H.E.O. stand for? +

H.E.O. stands for humectants, emollients and occlusives, the three principal moisturising strategies. Humectants draw water into the skin, emollients are skin-identical lipids that help it hold on to that water, and occlusives sit at the surface to reduce moisture loss. H.E.O. Mask combines all three in an optimised ratio across its two steps.

Is Medik8 H.E.O. Mask a good overnight mask for dry skin? +

Yes. It was created for dehydrated and persistently dry skin. In testing on 35 participants over 4 weeks, 94% showed a clinical improvement in moisturisation levels, 94% agreed skin appeared glowing after use, and hydration and moisture retention lasted for 72 hours.

How do I use the two steps of H.E.O. Mask? +

After cleansing in the evening, smooth an almond-sized amount of the Step 1 blue gel over the face, neck and décolletage, avoiding the eye area. Let it absorb for a few minutes, then massage in an almond-sized amount of the Step 2 white cream. Leave on overnight and cleanse as usual in the morning.

How often should I use H.E.O. Mask? +

Medik8 recommends 2-3 times a week, or as required. Because the hydration lasts for up to 72 hours, you do not need to use it every night to keep skin looking plump and comfortable.

Can I use H.E.O. Mask with retinol or Crystal Retinal? +

Yes. H.E.O. Mask is designed to be the last step in your evening routine, so apply your vitamin A serum first and finish with both steps of the mask. Many people keep it for the nights when their skin feels drier than usual.

Does H.E.O. Mask replace my night cream? +

On the nights you use it, yes. Step 2 is a rich cream that seals in the gel, so there is no need to add another moisturiser on top. On other nights, carry on with your usual night cream.

Is H.E.O. Mask suitable for sensitive or oily skin? +

Medik8 describes it as suitable for all complexions. It is dermatologically tested, non-comedogenic and free from fragrance, alcohol and synthetic colours, and 97% of testers agreed it is gentle on skin. Patch testing before first use is advised.

How long do the two tubes last? +

Each step comes in a 50ml tube and you only need an almond-sized amount of each. Used two or three times a week, most people get several months from one set.

Can I use Medik8 H.E.O. Mask during pregnancy or breastfeeding? +

H.E.O. Mask contains no vitamin A. Medik8 states it contains no ingredients it would advise avoiding during pregnancy, but we recommend checking with your GP or midwife before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
