FAQS
Is Neostrata Resurface Smooth Surface Glycolic Peel suitable for sensitive skin? +

Neostrata lists it as dermatologist and allergy tested, fragrance free and oil free, and the glycolic acid is buffered with arginine. It is still a 10% daily peel, so reactive skins should patch test, start with two evenings a week and build slowly; if your skin is very easily upset, the Glycolic Mousse Cleanser is a gentler way into the range.

How do I activate the Smooth Surface Glycolic Peel pads? +

Before the first use, pour the whole 60ml bottle of solution over the jar of 36 dry pads, close the lid and discard the bottle. The pads soak up the solution and are ready to use that evening.

Do I need to rinse or neutralise it? +

No. Neostrata designed it as a one-step peel: wipe a pad over cleansed skin, gently massage in any remaining fluid and move on to your cream. There is nothing to time, rinse or neutralise.

Can I use Neostrata Resurface Smooth Surface Glycolic Peel every night? +

Yes - nightly use is how Neostrata directs it and how the 12-week regimen study used it. If you are new to glycolic acid, begin with two or three evenings a week and work up to every night as tolerated.

How long do the 36 pads last? +

Used every evening, roughly five weeks. Keep the lid tightly closed between uses so the remaining pads stay saturated.

Can I use the peel pads with retinol? +

Keep them on separate nights to begin with, especially if you are new to either active. Once your skin is settled some people alternate freely; if you notice flaking or tightness, go back to alternating.

What is Aminofil? +

Aminofil is Neostrata's patented amino acid derivative, which the brand describes as its ingredient solution for visible volume building, plumping and firming the skin's appearance. Here it is at 0.5%, working alongside the 10% glycolic acid.

What should I apply after the peel pad? +

A Neostrata cream. The brand's own tip is a hydrating cream such as Hydra Filling Cream; within the Resurface regimen the pads were used alongside Glycolic Renewal Smoothing Cream. Always follow with sunscreen the next morning.

Can I use Neostrata Resurface Smooth Surface Glycolic Peel during pregnancy or while breastfeeding? +

Neostrata's own FAQ recommends discontinuing chemical peels during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless a physician recommends otherwise, so we suggest setting the pads aside for now and asking your midwife or GP before restarting. A gentle, rinse-off step such as the Glycolic Mousse Cleanser is generally considered a more suitable option in the meantime, but check that with them too.
